What did goalkeeper Bui Tien Dung say about the price list that is causing a stir on the internet?
The price list for the media contract and image exploitation of goalkeeper Bui Tien Dung set by a media company is causing a stir on the internet. So what do the insiders say?
On January 2, the price list of the media contract with the goalkeeper of the Vietnam U23 team Bui Tien Dung spread on the internet, causing a stir in public opinion. Many people argued that this was reasonable in the context that this goalkeeper has become the hottest character on the internet these days, with his personal page skyrocketing to 2.6 million followers in just a few days.
However, from a legal perspective, there are many questions about whether the price quote published by the media company violates any contract previously signed by Bui Tien Dung.
Currently, VFF and Dentsu Alpha, the unit holding the copyright to exploit the images of the Vietnam National Team, have not officially spoken out about the move of "quoting advertising prices" for goalkeeper Tien Dung by some media units, although they have been initially reported about this incident. However, FLC Thanh Hoa, the team managing Bui Tien Dung, has commented.
A representative of FLC Thanh Hoa Club confirmed: “All players in the youth training program will have their image and media statements managed by the club. Currently, FLC Thanh Hoa has not signed any agreement or document allowing another unit to exploit the image or statements of goalkeeper Bui Tien Dung.”
FLC Thanh Hoa Club once again emphasized that they are the only unit holding the right to manage the image of goalkeeper Tien Dung, and the Thanh team said they have full legal basis to prove their legitimate rights.
Announcement of FLC Thanh Hoa Football Joint Stock Company sent to the press.
According to a source from the Sports and Culture newspaper, after the advertising price list for goalkeeper Tien Dung appeared on the internet, this goalkeeper contacted FLC Thanh Hoa Club and affirmed that he would not sign any contract without the club's consent, and the unit that is quoting advertising prices for Tien Dung will not sign or carry out any commercial activities without Tien Dung's consent.
FLC Thanh Hoa CEO Nguyen Trong Hoai affirmed that they are ready to take to court those who are illegally using the image of U23 Vietnam goalkeeper, Bui Tien Dung. "This unit has nothing to do with Thanh Hoa Club. Bui Tien Dung is also under the management of Thanh Hoa's youth training. All issues related to advertising and personal image of Tien Dung must go through us. Anyone else doing so is violating the law. I reaffirm that Thanh Hoa has nothing to do with that sky-high price quote unit" - Mr. Hoai said.
Currently, Bui Tien Dung is only 21 years old and is a reserve goalkeeper at Thanh Hoa Club. His contract with Thanh Hoa is still in the youth training category with a relatively low income. Thanh Hoa side affirmed that they have full rights to Bui Tien Dung's image and brand.
Mr. Hoai was indignant: “If they deliberately continue to use Tien Dung’s image illegally, we will sue them before the law. They cannot do that. That is a violation of the contract commitment between Thanh Hoa and Bui Tien Dung.”
