(Baonghean.vn) - Purebred wild boars from Thailand have delicious meat and high nutritional value. Ms. Phan Thi Tu in Tam Dinh commune, Tuong Duong district (Nghe An) has successfully raised this breed of wild boar.

Wild boar farming is a developing trend in the mountainous region of Nghe An.Although the price of pigs on the market is unstable, the herd of Thai wild boars of Mrs. Phan Thi Tu in Quang Yen village, Tam Dinh commune (Tuong Duong) still has good output, always in short supply.

According to Ms. Phan Thi Tu, the advantage of this breed of pig is that it is super lean, the piglets adapt very well to the environment and have high resistance when raised. The raising process is much less difficult than raising pigs normally. Pigs are raised in a garden style, each day the pigs only eat two meals, morning and afternoon, the main food is forest leaves, vegetables, and completely natural grass; there is no need to invest in barns, especially this breed of pig loves to soak in water, just need to build a small water tank for them to bathe every day. The pigs are raised and sold as soon as they are sold.

"Thai wild boars are much larger than Vietnamese wild boars and local pigs; large ones usually weigh 90 - 93kg, medium ones weigh 70 - 80kg. Breeding pigs give birth to 2 litters per year, each litter has 5 - 7 piglets. Piglets born have a high survival rate and are less susceptible to disease, and are only sold when they reach 10 - 15kg/pig. Commercial pigs take 1 year to sell because they are raised entirely on natural food and have a slow growth rate. The selling price of commercial pigs is always twice as high as that of regular pigs; on average, each family sells 80 - 900 kg of pork per year, earning about 60 - 70 million VND" - Ms. Phan Thi Tu shared more.

To ensure the quality of meat as well as the breed, Mrs. Tu's family does not need to find a supplier, mainly customers come to order in advance; currently, they have provided breeds to many households in the area, aiming to develop widespread breeding in the future to provide enough for the needs of the people.

Raising purebred Thai wild boars is creating a new development direction for people in mountainous areas, contributing to increasing economic efficiency and improving the lives of local people, as well as contributing to the transformation of agricultural structure, creating a new step forward for the livestock industry here.
