(Baonghean.vn) - On July 25th, Deputy Minister of Transport Le Dinh Tho inspected the operation of the weighing station on National Highway 1A in Dien An commune, Dien Chau district.

Accompanying the delegation were Comrade Huynh Thanh Dien, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and Nguyen Hong Ky, Director of the Department of Transport.

In anticipation of the War Invalids and Martyrs Day on July 27th, Comrade Le Dinh Tho visited the Le Canal Memorial to offer incense and pay respects to the heroic martyrs of the river transport sector. During the resistance war against the US, the land route through Nghe An province was cut off, and the Le Canal played a crucial role in transporting people and weapons to support the Southern battlefield. Along this canal, the enemy rained bombs and bullets to sever this vital artery from North to South.

Deputy Minister Le Dinh Tho and the delegation offered incense and flowers to commemorate the heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives on the front line.

With unwavering courage and dedication to their beloved South Vietnam, many river transport workers bravely sacrificed their lives. The historical site of the Le Dynasty canal has become a significant landmark, educating future generations about revolutionary traditions.

Next, the delegation led by the Deputy Minister of Transport inspected the operation of the weighing station on National Highway 1A located in Dien An commune, Dien Chau district. This is mobile weighing station No. 15, aimed at controlling overloaded and oversized vehicles traveling on National Highway 1A.

Officially operational since April 1st, the system involves traffic inspectors, traffic police, public security police, and military control forces. In addition to the weighing station located opposite Cuong Temple in Dien An commune, the task force also uses patrol vehicles within a 2km radius of the station to educate and explain the purpose of the weighing station to truck drivers and cargo owners, and to request that vehicles enter the station for weighing as required. After more than three months of operation, the weighing station has proven very effective, contributing to reducing the damage caused by overloaded and oversized vehicles to the roads.

The Deputy Minister of Transport explained the latest legal regulations related to the operation of weigh stations.

Here, witnessing drivers carrying overloaded and oversized cargo arguing with traffic inspectors, the Deputy Minister requested the drivers to bring all relevant documents and explain each specific item in the vehicle registration certificate regarding the permitted load capacity of their trucks. After explaining the situation to the drivers, the Deputy Minister requested the authorities to take administrative action, forcing the drivers to reduce their load to meet the required standards.

The Deputy Minister of Transport requested that the staff at the weighing station make every effort to perform their duties, properly protect the machinery and equipment, and always stay updated on the latest directives and documents from the Ministry of Transport to successfully complete their assigned tasks.
