Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism outlines tourism development roadmap for the opening period

(Baonghean.vn) - Speaking at the 2021 Vietnam Tourism Conference held in Cua Lo town (Nghe An), Mr. Doan Van Viet - Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism presented his views and some solutions to restore and develop Vietnam tourism in the new context.

Promote overall recovery of both supply and demand

According to comrade Doan Van Viet - Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the recovery and development of tourism in the coming period sets out 5 key viewpoints, principles, target orientations, tasks, solutions and implementation roadmap including: Opening, tourism recovery associated with epidemic prevention and control, risk and crisis management and implementation of Resolution 128.

Along with that, focus on solutions and policies to support overcoming immediate difficulties of businesses and workers in thetourism industry, restore and strengthen the foundation, creating momentum for future growth. Increase proactiveness and flexible transformation for businesses to maintain continuous operations;

Promote and restore both the supply and demand sides of tourism activities; Consider restructuring the tourism industry as a key task that needs to be focused on and implemented synchronously to accelerate the recovery process, take advantage of opportunities and create momentum for a breakthrough in the new period; Enhance the internal capacity and autonomy of the industry, and in the immediate future promote the development of domestic tourism as an internal force and fundamental foundation for sustainable tourism development.

Based on the above viewpoint, Deputy Minister Doan Van Viet identified three basic goals. The first is to gradually reopen tourism activities in a stable, safe and secure manner; the second is to open up and strongly develop the domestic tourism market, gradually open the international tourism market associated with the application of vaccine passports, creating conditions for the recovery of the tourism market.

Third is to improveCompetitiveness, resilience and create new development momentum for the tourism industry in the new context by accelerating the industry restructuring process.

Prioritize building separate mechanisms and policies

Based on this viewpoint and goal, Comrade Doan Van Viet clearly stated the tasks and solutions to restore and develop Vietnam tourism that have been issued by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. These include ensuring safety at destinations and safety for tourists; strengthening communication and promotion activities, promoting tourism, and restructuring the tourist market.

Consolidate and develop diverse tourism products to meet new market trends; Promote digital transformation in the tourism industry; Support businesses to accelerate the processrecover, restructuring tourism businesses; Supporting human resource development according to a reasonable structure, meeting the requirements of tourism recovery, restructuring tourism development resources.

Regarding the implementation roadmap, according to Deputy Minister Doan Van Viet, it is expected to be divided into two phases with priority tasks and solutions.

Phase 1: Reopening domestic and international tourism (from late 2021 to the first half of 2022). Reopening and stabilizing, ensuring destination safety, piloting the reopening of international visitors, restoring domestic tourism activities, supporting workers and businesses, and preparing for public investment.

The second phase of recovery and development reaches the previous level.Covid-19 epidemic(from the second half of 2022, may last 1 to 2 years): Support businesses, implement public investment projects and social investment to create medium and long-term growth momentum for the industry.

From there, it is recommended that the National Assembly, the Government and ministries and branches consider innovating, issuing separate mechanisms and policies, giving priority, creating a legal basis, increasing proactiveness to create favorable conditions for the tourism industry.difficult to removen, overcome challenges.
