Deputy Minister of Health Do Xuan Tuyen works with Vinh Medical University

On the afternoon of December 20, a working delegation from the Ministry of Health led by Deputy Minister Do Xuan Tuyen had a working session with Vinh Medical University.

Also attending the meeting were Prof. Dr. Duong Dinh Chinh - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee; Director of the Department of Health.

Vinh Medical University was established in 2010, is a public university, under the Provincial People's Committee.

The school currently has 18 faculties, departments, offices, centers; 01 affiliated unit; Annual enrollment target from 1,000 to 1,200 students. Stable student flow from 4,000 to 5,000 people. The school is currently training 02 postgraduate majors, 06 undergraduate majors and many continuing education majors.

Last year's university enrollment met 95% of the target, and the postgraduate training program maintained a good level of Specialization I in Internal Medicine and Master of Public Health. The graduation rate for the entire course was over 80% good or excellent.

After a period of suspension due to the Covid-19 pandemic, since January 2022, the school has welcomed many delegations from Japan and the Federal Republic of Germany to cooperate on sending students to practice and work long-term in these two countries. The school also signed a memorandum of cooperation in the field of dentistry and aesthetics with the Gwangju Diakonia organization, Gwangju city, Korea...

The school currently has Vinh University of Medicine Hospital as its practice facility. Over the past year, the hospital has deployed a number of high-techniques of class I and II hospitals and many specialized techniques of Trauma, Surgery, Internal Medicine - Cardiology, Otorhinolaryngology, and Dentistry.

In order to improve the school's capacity, at the meeting, Vinh Medical University proposed to the Ministry of Health to pay attention and create favorable conditions to help the school open training codes for Level I Specialists, Level II Specialists, and Resident Doctors.

At the same time, direct and facilitate the Medical Universities under the Ministry of Health to support Vinh Medical University in training staff, lecturers, developing hospitals and experimental laboratory systems. Allow the school to participate in a number of programs and projects managed by the Ministry to enhance its capacity.

Concluding the meeting, Deputy Minister of Health Do Xuan Tuyen acknowledged and highly appreciated the results that Vinh Medical University has achieved in the past time. To achieve the goal of building Vinh Medical University in the direction of: Professionalism, quality, integration, development; contributing to training human resources for the health sector, Deputy Minister Do Xuan Tuyen suggested that Vinh Medical University need to review the staff planning.

In addition, it is necessary to review the working regulations of the Party Committee; the working regulations of the executive committee and the school council; the working regulations of the board of directors; the coordination regulations between the Party Committee, the school council and the board of directors to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the school's operations.

The school needs to continue to improve the quality of training and scientific research; continue to train and foster to ensure the quantity and quality of lecturers; and expand the training codes.

Along with that, strengthen coordination with medical units inside and outside the province; strengthen relationships with Party committees, authorities and localities. At the same time, increase income so that staff and lecturers can work with peace of mind./.
