Yesterday afternoon, August 2, the Ministry in charge officially decided to allow Mr. Hai to run for election and began carrying out procedures according to state regulations.
At the 7th Congress, Mr. Hai was also nominated but withdrew at the last minute. As a result, Mr. Le Hung Dung was elected President of VFF. However, Mr. Dung has been absent recently due to health problems.

He added: “My brothers trusted me and nominated me, putting pressure on me to do it. However, I think that if I can do something good for the country's football, I should run for election, but if I can't change anything, I shouldn't participate. Therefore, I decided not to run for election anymore. I have no need for titles or money. I will continue to contribute to Vietnamese football by organizing youth tournaments.”
According to the original plan, the VFF Congress took place in May. However, the schedule was continuously postponed due to noisy events. First, Mr. Duc reacted to the criteria as well as the list of candidates, causing Mr. Tran Anh Tu - Chairman of VPF - to withdraw. Then Mr. Tran Manh Hung - Vice Chairman of VPF - resigned because of the leaked audio recording threatening Deputy of the Referee Board Duong Van Hien. And most recently, the departure of Vice Chairman of VFF in charge of communications Nguyen Xuan Gu.
According to information ofVnExpressThe congress will take place in September at the latest.
