Work on the formation of the Syrian Constitutional Committee is nearing completion, agreements may be reached before the next round of Astana talks in late April, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov said.
"Work is underway. This will also be discussed at the Astana format talks. Important agreements may be made before that, there is an important meeting here today. I think that the time has come to finalize the formation of the Commission," Bogdanov told reporters on the sidelines of the Russian-Arab Business Council meeting.
Earlier, the Kazakh Foreign Ministry announced that the next round of talks on Syria in Nur-Sultan is scheduled to be held on April 25-26.
The armed conflict in Syria began in 2011. At the end of 2017 there was a declaration of victory over the IS terrorist group in Syria and Iraq.
In some parts of the country, the hunt for remnants is still going on.
The top priority now is to resolve the conflict through political means, restore Syria and repatriate refugees.
