Deputy Minister Pham Quy Ngo has passed away.
On the evening of February 18th, Lieutenant General Pham Quy Ngo, Deputy Minister of Public Security, passed away at the Central Military Hospital 108 due to liver cancer, at the age of 60.
Mr. Ngo passed away at 9:05 PM on February 18th, after approximately two weeks of treatment for liver cancer at Ward A11 (Military Central Hospital 108). His body is being kept in the hospital's morgue.
According to Mr. Pham Gia Khai, Deputy Head of the Central Committee for Health Protection, Mr. Ngo recently went to Japan for cancer treatment using stem cell transplantation, but it was unsuccessful. After the Lunar New Year, he returned to Vietnam and is now receiving treatment at Military Hospital 108. A few years ago, Mr. Ngo had also gone to Singapore for treatment of this disease.

Lieutenant General Pham Quy Ngo is one of the seven Deputy Ministers of the Ministry of Public Security. He was born in 1954 in Thai Binh province. Before joining the Ministry, Mr. Ngo was the Director of the Thai Binh Provincial Police. He has held various positions including Deputy Director General of the People's Police General Department, Head of the Police Investigation Agency, and Director General of the People's Police General Department.
In August 2010, he was appointed Deputy Minister of Public Security by the Prime Minister, and subsequently elected a member of the Central Committee of the 11th Party Congress. In July 2013, Mr. Ngo was promoted to the rank of General by the President of Vietnam.
During his career, Mr. Ngo directed important cases such as the riots in Thai Binh (1997), irregularities at the Vietnam Maritime Corporation - Vinalines...
