British Prime Minister sees Putin's remarks as a challenge to EU values
British Prime Minister Theresa May disagrees with Russian President Vladimir Putin's words that the idea of freedom has become obsolete.

She made the announcement in her final speech as head of government at the Royal Institute of International Affairs.
“No one, when comparing the quality of life or economic performance of liberal democracies like Britain, France and Germany with that of the Russian Federation, would conclude that our system is outdated,” she said.
Mrs May called Mr Putin's words a challenge facing EU countries in defending their values.
Earlier, in an interview with the Financial Times, President Vladimir Putin said that the idea of freedom is outdated and contradicts the interests of the vast majority of people. According to the president, Western countries must admit that some ideals of liberalism are unrealistic.
The statement of the head of state caused widespread comments. Later, the press secretary of the head of state of Russia, Dmitry Peskov, stressed that Mr. Putin remains close to liberal values, but he opposes imposing them on others.
