The Australian Prime Minister said that if the Senate does not pass two labor reform bills by April 19, Parliament will be dissolved.

BBC reported on March 21 that Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has warned that he will dissolve both houses of Parliament and call an early election if the Senate does not pass two labor reform bills.

Prime Minister Turnbull said the two labor reform bills were vital to Australia's economy, but his opponents said they were unfair.

The above reform bills have been repeatedly rejected in the opposition-controlled Australian Senate.

According to the BBC, Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has proposed convening a session of Parliament on April 19, nearly a month earlier than planned, to consider passing two bills related to labor reform; at the same time, he warned that if these bills are not passed in the next session, he will declare the dissolution of both houses of Parliament to pave the way for an early election on July 2.

“It is time for the Senate to step up to its responsibilities and help drive the country’s economic agenda, not just stand by and watch. This is the fifth time they have had the chance to do this. The time for the game is over,” Mr Turnbull said.

Following Mr Turnbull's announcement, the Australian Senate will have three more weeks to debate the labor reform bill.

Earlier, on March 18, the Australian Senate passed a number of electoral system reforms. With these electoral reforms, it will be more difficult for small parties to enter Parliament through vote-sharing agreements.

Meanwhile, the results of a public opinion poll released on March 21 showed that the percentage of Australians dissatisfied with the Prime Minister is now at its highest level since he took office in September 2015.

Accordingly, the survey results with 2,049 people showed that only 39% of respondents were satisfied with Prime Minister Turnbull's performance, down 5% since the previous survey and only half of the 60% for Mr. Turnbull in the November 2015 survey - which was the highest level of support for a Prime Minister in Australia./.
