Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen refuses to take Chinese vaccine
Last night (February 5), Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen suddenly announced that he would not be vaccinated with the Chinese-made Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccine on February 10.
The Cambodian Prime Minister confirmed that he will not be vaccinated because the Covid-19 vaccine is only for people aged 18 to 59, while he is 68 years old.

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen said he would not take the Chinese vaccine because of his age. |
On his personal Facebook page, Mr. Hun Sen said: "I have just received information from the Ministry of Health, because the Ministry of Health has received an official dispatch from the Office of the Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia that the Sinopharm vaccine is only given to people aged 18 to 59."
Prime Minister Hun Sen also added: “Because I am over 68 years old, I cannot be vaccinated with this vaccine. Therefore, the vaccination program scheduled for February 10, 2021, at Calmette Hospital will be canceled, because both I and other senior officials are mostly over 60 years old and cannot be vaccinated with this vaccine."
Just hours earlier, Prime Minister Hun Sen announced that he would be the first person to receive the Sinopharm vaccine on the morning of February 10 along with other senior Cambodian officials and would hold a press conference about the event at the hospital immediately after the injection.
Also on the evening of February 5, the Cambodian Ministry of Health announced that 300,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccine donated by China will arrive in Cambodia on February 7, not 600,000 doses as previously announced by Prime Minister Hun Sen./.
