Cambodian Prime Minister visits President Tran Dai Quang

Prime Minister Hun Sen led a high-ranking delegation to Vietnam to pay tribute to President Tran Dai Quang on the first day of the state funeral.

Prime Minister Hun Sen on September 21 sent a letter to Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, expressing his deep condolences on the passing of President Tran Dai Quang. The King of Cambodia also sent a letter of condolences to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong on September 24, praising the President's "positive contributions to the construction and development of the country."

Acting Head of State, President of the Cambodian Senate Samdech Say Chhum and President of the National Assembly Samdech Heng Samrin will also pay their respects to President Tran Dai Quang at the Vietnamese embassy in the capital Phnom Penh today.

Vietnam and Cambodia last year celebrated 50 years of diplomatic relations. Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh once assessed the relationship between the two countries as a "priceless asset", nurtured during the national liberation struggle and developed in all areas during the country's construction and development.

The bilateral relationship is developing well under the motto of "good neighborliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, long-term sustainability", contributing to development, peace and stability in the region.

President Tran Dai Quang passed away on the morning of September 21 at the 108 Military Central Hospital after a long battle with a serious illness. The President's funeral was held with the State funeral rites. The visitation began at 7:00 a.m. on September 26 at the National Funeral House No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong, Hanoi. The memorial service took place at 7:30 a.m. on September 27, and the burial ceremony began at 3:30 p.m. the same day at the President's hometown in Hamlet 13, Quang Thien Commune, Kim Son District, Ninh Binh Province.
