The Prime Minister's decision came after complaints about the sudden increase in electricity bills in April due to the average retail electricity price increasing by 8.36% from March 20.

Explaining this phenomenon, the electricity industry gave three reasons: hot weather, increased electricity consumption by households, and partly due to an increase in retail electricity prices.
