On the morning of July 3, under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, the Government held an online regular meeting for June 2017. The conference is of utmost importance to discuss, analyze, and clarify the situation in the first 6 months of 2017, the results achieved, the remaining issues, limitations, weaknesses, and to set out the main goals, tasks, and solutions to successfully implement the socio-economic development tasks in the last 6 months of 2017.
Attending the conference at Nghe An bridge were comrades: Nguyen Dac Vinh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation; Nguyen Xuan Son - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Nguyen Xuan Duong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Vice Chairmen of the Provincial People's Committee: Le Xuan Dai, Dinh Viet Hong, Le Minh Thong and representatives of leaders of provincial departments, branches and sectors. |
Speaking at the opening of the conference, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc assessed that the socio-economic situation in the first 6 months of 2017 had achieved positive changes in most areas. Ministries and sectors have actively implemented resolutions and directives on key tasks and solutions to promote growth in sectors and fields in order to achieve the economic growth target in 2017.
The Government has consistently strived to achieve the annual growth target of 6.7%, but not growth at all costs; growth must be associated with macroeconomic stability, ensuring quality and sustainable development.

Comrade Nguyen Xuan Phuc also emphasized that the task for the last 6 months of the year is still very heavy, because up to now, GDP growth in the first 6 months is estimated at 5.73%, although higher than the 5.52% in the same period last year, but to achieve the whole year growth of 6.7%, the last 6 months of the year must achieve growth of 7.4%.
“That figure is not easy, especially when the flood season is coming. This is a high target, but we have the basis to achieve the target, because the industries are showing a strong recovery trend, the international and regional context is favorable, international assessments of Vietnam are positive… The problem is that we must be more determined, make more efforts, act more decisively, and reform and innovate more strongly,” the Prime Minister emphasized.
He frankly pointed out: “In the first 6 months of the year, we have proposed many solutions, but the implementation is still “lacking fire”, not drastic, some parts are still implementing them half-heartedly, ineffectively, some cadres and authorities are still notorious for corruption and group interests… The members attending the meeting need to propose specific methods and approaches to contribute to exceeding the targets assigned by the Party and State to the Government and localities”.
The Prime Minister asked the delegates to focus on discussing solutions to resolve difficulties and problems in the fields of agricultural product consumption, public investment, equitization of state-owned enterprises and divestment, stronger administrative reform, etc.; pay more attention to pressing public issues such as environmental pollution, traffic accidents, fires, social evils, etc.
On July 3, the Conference discussed the socio-economic situation in the first 6 months of 2017; the implementation of Resolution No. 01/NQ-CP on the main tasks and solutions for directing and implementing the socio-economic development plan and the State budget estimate for 2017; reviewing the direction and administration of the Government and the Prime Minister in the first 6 months of 2017; reporting on inspection, handling of complaints and denunciations, and anti-corruption; reporting on the implementation of the Law and Ordinance Development Program; reporting on administrative reform; reporting on the implementation of Resolution No. 19-2017/NQ-CP; reporting on the implementation of Resolution 36a/NQ-CP on e-Government; reporting on the implementation of Resolution No. 35/NQ-CP on supporting and developing enterprises until 2020. |
