Prime Minister: Developing Vietnam's Logistics services on par with the region and the world
(Baonghean.vn) - In his concluding remarks at the National Conference on Logistics, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc affirmed: "No road, no wealth", ministries, branches and localities need to raise awareness and new ways of doing things, and have high political determination of the whole system to transform the Logistics system from the central to local levels.
The Prime Minister said that localities must also consider this as a training course on Logistics, must further reduce Logistics costs, and reduce the lack of synchronization between transportation systems.
The Ministry of Transport must take the lead in solving cost issues, especially unofficial costs, transportation fares, and the high empty rate (45% of vehicles do not return empty). From the central to local levels, we must eliminate the indifference, irresponsibility, and indefiniteness towards businesses.

The State will have policies on developing production and goods; developing supporting industries, developing logistics centers to connect localities with the world. The State plays a role in creating a favorable environment for businesses to operate.
"Even mountainous provinces such as Lang Son, Lao Cai... bordering and exporting large quantities of goods must place higher demands on logistics services, not to mention localities with coastal areas" - the Prime Minister emphasized.
Despite many advances in the logistics sector, the Prime Minister pointed out that logistics costs in Vietnam are still too high and difficult to compete, especially in the context of strong international integration.
Logistics costs must be further reduced, of which transportation costs account for about 60%, and including storage and unloading costs, about 91%. The Prime Minister emphasized that this is an important step, so we need to have stronger measures.
The Prime Minister affirmed: Associations and industries play a very important role, especially in raising awareness and sense of responsibility towards members, and not to be dishonest or careless towards services and businesses.
For businesses providing logistics services, it is necessary to apply information technology, improve service quality, reduce costs and increase competitiveness. The Government will synthesize and absorb the maximum opinions of businesses, ministries, branches and localities to issue the Prime Minister's Directive on developing Vietnam's logistics services to be on par with the region and the world.
