Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia Hun Sen visits Vietnam

Prime Minister Hun Sen's visit to Vietnam has special significance as it takes place in the context of the two countries celebrating the 50th anniversary of establishing relations.

On the afternoon of June 21, at the Binh Duong Provincial Convention Center, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc hosted and welcomed Prime Minister of the Royal Government of Cambodia Samdech Hun Sen and members of the high-ranking delegation of the Government of the Kingdom of Cambodia to visit Vietnam on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the day Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen and his comrades began the revolutionary path, saving Cambodia from the Pol Pot genocidal regime.

More than 1,000 delegates including officials, people of Binh Duong province and young generations of the two countries attended the ceremony.

Accompanying Prime Minister Hun Sen on this visit to Vietnam were five Deputy Prime Ministers, leaders of many ministries and branches; many high-ranking generals of the Army and leaders of several localities of the Kingdom of Cambodia. Also attending the welcoming ceremony on the Vietnamese side were Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh; leaders of many ministries, branches and branches; representatives of relevant local authorities and many high-ranking generals and officers who are commanders of military regions and corps of the Vietnam People's Army.

Prime Minister Hun Sen's visit to Vietnam is of special significance as it takes place in the context of the two countries celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (June 24, 1967 - June 24, 2017) and the "Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Year 2017". The two Prime Ministers met and talked with more than 1,000 delegates including: representatives of the government and people of Binh Duong province, many representatives of the young generation of Vietnamese students and 250 Cambodian students studying in Vietnam; the delegates are generations of volunteer soldiers and Vietnamese experts who have come to help Cambodia protect and build the country.

Looking back at the difficult, arduous, but also glorious history of the two countries joining hands and hearts on the national liberation front, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc shared: the Vietnamese people have a saying "remember the bitter times when it is sweet" and today is an opportunity to recall the history of solidarity and standing shoulder to shoulder between the two countries and peoples of Vietnam and Cambodia, in times of difficulty and adversity as well as in peace, prosperity and happiness.

Despite the heavy rain, Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh and Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc went to the car to welcome the Cambodian Prime Minister.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc affirmed that the fate of the two nations cannot be separated, which is a truth from the historical reality of the two countries. The Prime Minister emphasized that “Vietnam will forever be a loyal neighbor, consistent with the country and people of Cambodia.”

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc congratulated the country and people of Cambodia, under the leadership of the Cambodian People's Revolutionary Party and the Government of the Kingdom of Cambodia, on their great achievements in building a peaceful, stable and developed Cambodia. Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc wished "the good neighborly relations, traditional friendship, comprehensive and sustainable cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia will last forever like the Mekong River connecting the two countries".

Mr. Hun Sen expressed his gratitude for the sacrifices that Vietnam has made for Cambodia. Without Vietnam, there would be no Cambodia today. The Prime Minister wished that “the Vietnam-Cambodia solidarity and friendship will be forever green and everlasting.”

Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen expressed his joy and emotion to return with a high-ranking delegation from the Government of the Kingdom of Cambodia to visit Vietnam, a close, loyal and intimate neighbor of the Cambodian people.

Prime Minister Hun Sen praised the solidarity and close friendship between the people of the two countries, especially the selfless, pure, comradely, brotherly and noble humanistic assistance of the Party, State, Government and People's Army of Vietnam to the Cambodian people in the struggle for national liberation, helping Cambodia escape the Pol Pot genocide, revive strongly and build a good society, bringing a prosperous and happy life to the Cambodian people.

Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen expressed gratitude for the sacrifices that Vietnam has made for Cambodia. Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen affirmed that without Vietnam, there would be no Cambodia today. The Prime Minister wished that "the Vietnam-Cambodia solidarity and friendship will be forever green and everlasting."

On the evening of June 21, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc held a reception for Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen and a high-ranking delegation from the Government of the Kingdom of Cambodia.

Earlier, on the same morning, Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen revisited historical sites and witnesses in Loc Ninh district, Binh Phuoc province, where 40 years ago, on June 21, 1977, Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen and his comrades began the revolutionary path, saving Cambodia from the Pol Pot genocidal regime.

At Loc Thanh commune, Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen cut the ribbon to inaugurate the commune's Cultural House, a gift that Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen sent to the local people where 40 years ago witnessed historic moments and the Prime Minister's first steps on the revolutionary path./.
