The Prime Minister chaired the regular Government meeting in April with many important contents.
On the morning of May 4, at the Government Headquarters, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired the regular Government meeting for April 2024, discussing many important contents.

Attending the meeting were Deputy Prime Ministers, members of the Government, leaders of ministries, ministerial-level agencies, and agencies under the Government; Comrade Dinh Van An, Assistant to the General Secretary; representatives of leaders of a number of committees, commissions, and agencies of the Party Central Committee and the National Assembly; and leaders of a number of State economic groups.
According to the program, the meeting focused on assessing the socio-economic situation in April and the first four months of 2024, the allocation and disbursement of public investment capital, the implementation of three national target programs, the direction and administration of the Government and the Prime Minister, directions, tasks, key solutions in the coming time and a number of other important contents.
According to reports at the meeting, in April and the first four months of the year, Vietnam's economy continued to suffer the "double impact" of unfavorable external factors and prolonged internal limitations and shortcomings; meanwhile, our country is a developing country, the economy is in the process of transformation, the scale is still modest, openness is high, resilience and competitiveness are limited.
However, thanks to the drastic participation of the entire political system under the leadership of the Politburo and the Secretariat, headed by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, the socio-economic situation continues to change positively and quite comprehensively.
The macro economy is stable, inflation is controlled, major balances are ensured, industries and sectors continue to grow; electricity supply is ensured, especially during the recent hot weather; development investment continues to be promoted (including domestic investment and FDI attraction); cultural and artistic activities take place vigorously, especially during holidays; people's lives continue to be improved; social security is guaranteed, there is no shortage of food, even during the harvest season; anti-corruption and negativity are promoted; security and defense are strengthened; foreign affairs are expanded. Prestigious international organizations have positively assessed Vietnam's socio-economic development situation.
Besides the basic achievements, our country still has limitations, inadequacies and continues to face many difficulties and challenges.

In his opening speech, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh asked delegates to focus on discussing and closely assessing the situation in recent times, clearly pointing out the results and achievements, shortcomings and limitations, analyzing subjective and objective causes, drawing lessons, assessing the situation in the coming time, proposing tasks and solutions that are both fundamental and long-term, as well as situational and immediate solutions, with the spirit of having a focus and key points, and completing each task thoroughly.
The Prime Minister suggested a number of lessons, such as always keeping abreast of the situation to respond promptly and effectively with policies; promoting personal responsibility, especially that of leaders; strengthening inspection and supervision right from the start of work implementation, early on, from a distance, from the grassroots, not allowing small violations to accumulate into major ones.
Regarding tasks and solutions in May, the Prime Minister emphasized important tasks, including preparing for the Central Conference and the National Assembly session, and urgent tasks such as responding to drought and natural disasters.
