Prime Minister attends handover ceremony of Science and Technology Management Training Center to Laos
On the afternoon of February 4, in Vientiane (Laos), Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Lao Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith attended the inauguration ceremony of the Lao Science and Technology Management Training Center, a symbol of science and technology cooperation between the two countries.

On this occasion, the two Prime Ministers witnessed the signing of the Minutes of Handover of the Center between the Ministry of Science and Technology of Vietnam and the Ministry of Science and Technology of Laos.
According to Minister of Science and Technology Chu Ngoc Anh, the project started in September 2015 and was completed and accepted in December 2017 on schedule, ensuring quality according to requirements and regulations. The project uses aid capital from the Vietnamese Government to the Lao Government.
The completed project ensures infrastructure for scientific research and training of Lao science and technology management staff to meet the training scale of 600 to 800 people/year and workplace for about 70 staff, scientists and teachers.

Tomorrow morning (February 5), the Center will organize the first training course for more than 50 managers from the Ministry of Science and Technology, several ministries, sectors and businesses of Laos on innovative start-up activities. This will be the starting activity for the cooperation program in 2018 between the two units.
In the immediate future, the Center will be a scientific research facility and training facility for university and postgraduate staff specializing in science and technology management.

Speaking at the ceremony, Lao Minister of Science and Technology Boviengkham Vongdara highly appreciated this project, saying that it is an exemplary symbol of cooperation in science and technology between Laos and Vietnam. This center will be a research and training facility to improve the level of science and technology management and innovation for officials in the science and technology sector, science and technology management officials of central and local sectors, and enterprises.
According to the orientation of science and technology development until 2020, the number of research and development staff in Laos will reach about 11 people/10,000 people, at that time the number of science and technology management staff in state management agencies and enterprises is expected to double, the demand for training and fostering of science and technology management skills is expected to increase by about 1,000 people/year.
