Prime Minister sends letter of commendation to Paralympics Gold Medalist Le Van Cong

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has just sent a letter of commendation to weightlifter Le Van Cong, an athlete of the Vietnam Paralympic Sports Delegation, for his outstanding performance, winning a Gold Medal and breaking the Paralympics and world records at the 2016 Paralympics Games.

Athlete Le Van Cong won historic Paralympics gold medal

The letter sent to the Head of the Delegation and the staff, coaches and athletes of the Vietnam Disabled Sports Delegation participating in the 2016 Paralympics has the following content:

"I am very pleased to receive the news that at the Rio 2016 Paralympics, weightlifter Le Van Cong competed exceptionally well, won a Gold Medal, and broke the Paralympics and world records. He is the first Vietnamese disabled athlete to stand on the pinnacle of Paralympics glory, bringing pride to the Fatherland; demonstrating the will, determination, and strong desire to overcome difficulties of the young generation of Vietnam.

On this occasion, I request the Department of Physical Education and Sports and all levels, sectors, and media agencies to step up propaganda and mobilization work to learn from the example of outstanding will and efforts of athlete Le Van Cong, contributing to encouraging and motivating all people, especially people with disabilities, to actively participate in physical education and sports, integrate into the community, strive to master their lives, and at the same time promote their abilities and participate in contributing to the development of the physical education and sports sector and the whole society.

On behalf of the Government, I would like to send my congratulations to the Vietnam Sports Delegation for the Disabled and athlete Le Van Cong personally; I hope that our Delegation will continue to promote the results achieved, uphold the spirit of solidarity, and be determined to strive for more achievements at the 2016 Paralympics.
