On the afternoon of January 13th, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, along with leaders of the Ministry of National Defense, personally inspected the training and combat readiness duty at the 64th Air Defense Missile Regiment, under the 361st Air Defense Division, Air Defense - Air Force Command.
The 64th Air Defense Missile Regiment is equipped with the S-300 PMU 1 air defense missile system, capable of destroying all modern enemy air attack vehicles, not only currently but also in the future, such as strategic and tactical aircraft, even stealth strategic bombers like the B-2A and B-52 G/H; simultaneously destroying Tomahawk-type cruise missiles, strategic and tactical ballistic missiles at all altitudes and speeds, even under conditions of high-intensity interference and tactical maneuvers...
The S-300 PMU 1 air defense missile system is capable of detecting targets at a range of 300 km, moving across a 360-degree azimuth range, and destroying targets from 5 km to 150 km at altitudes from 10 m to 27,000 m.

Inspecting the training and combat readiness at the 64th Air Defense Missile Regiment, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung expressed his pleasure that the air defense and air force forces in general, and the air defense forces in particular, have developed and matured, rapidly moving towards standardization and modernization to be ready to firmly protect the skies of the homeland.
The Prime Minister highly appreciated the air defense and air force forces for upholding their heroic traditions, quickly receiving and mastering modern equipment, completing training and maintaining a high level of combat readiness, directly contributing to safeguarding peace, independence, and national sovereignty. The Prime Minister reminded air defense and air force officers and soldiers not to be complacent or negligent in defending and protecting the homeland, to avoid being caught off guard, and that in any situation, the ultimate goal must be victory.

In this spirit, the Prime Minister requested the air defense and air force forces to continue to thoroughly research and master the techniques and equipment; focus on training in practical scenarios with a high level of combat readiness, avoiding surprises in all situations, while protecting and preserving the equipped equipment.
The Party and State are making every effort to equip the army to move directly into modernization in a number of areas suitable to the country's capabilities – the Prime Minister affirmed this and emphasized: Ultimately, even with modern weapons, human resources remain the decisive factor.
