Prime Minister Medvedev explains why Russia abandoned the dollar
Russia's move away from the use of the dollar in foreign trade settlements in favor of the ruble and other currencies is a result of the aggressive and sometimes absurd economic policy of the United States, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said in his speech at the Gaidar Forum.

"As you know, we are also expanding the use of rubles and other currencies in foreign trade payments, we have seriously reduced investments in US Treasury bonds.
By the way, Russia's recent Eurobond issuance was carried out in euros - all this is a consequence of US economic policy," Medvedev said.
"It is clear that the trend towards reducing the dependence of the national economy on the dollar will only increase, the economic moves of the most powerful player in the economic sphere only increase tensions," the Russian Prime Minister added.
