Prime Minister Medvedev: Vietnam is currently a favorite destination for Russians
During his talks with National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, Prime Minister Medvedev highlighted many important points in the friendship and cooperation between the two countries. Highlighting the strengths in cooperation and tourism development, he affirmed that Vietnam is currently a favorite destination for Russians.

According to VNA special correspondent, at noon on December 11, local time, within the framework of an official visit to the Russian Federation, National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan met with Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev in Moscow.
National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan expressed her delight at leading a high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly on an official visit to the Russian Federation and meeting with Prime Minister Medvedev - a close friend of the Vietnamese people.
Prime Minister D.Medvedev welcomed National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan on her official visit to the Russian Federation. Emphasizing that this visit is of great significance to promoting the Russia-Vietnam cooperation relationship, Prime Minister D.Medvedev expressed his belief that the visit will be a great success.
National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan highly appreciated the good development of relations between Vietnam and the Russian Federation in all aspects; affirmed that the Vietnamese National Assembly always supports further strengthening of comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Russia, is ready to coordinate with the Government to promptly remove difficulties and obstacles in bilateral cooperation, contributing to making Vietnam-Russia cooperation increasingly deeper and more effective, including the implementation of agreements reached between the two Prime Ministers during Prime Minister Medvedev's official visit to Vietnam in November 2018, as well as Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc's official visit to Russia in May 2019.
In recent times, many large investment projects between the two countries have been implemented. The two sides also have a lot of potential for investment cooperation in areas such as: urban infrastructure development, transportation, railways and seaports, digital economy, nuclear energy... In addition to Russian projects in Vietnam, there have been Vietnamese investment projects in Russia, most recently the high-tech dairy farming project of TH true Milk Group in Russia.
National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan thanked Russia for creating conditions for VietJet Air to use direct flights to Russia (Vladivostok) and for creating conditions for TH true Milk Group to invest in Russia; at the same time, she asked the Russian Federation to support removing barriers for Vietnamese localities and goods to enter Russia.
Vietnam is ready to facilitate the implementation of the Protocol between Vietnam and Russia on supporting the production of motor vehicles in Vietnam. The two sides have been cooperating in the field of digital technology. Vietnam supports businesses investing abroad and building e-government; and requests that the two sides promote negotiations on the travel of citizens of the two countries.
Cooperation in building Vietnam's e-Government is also being actively implemented, including cooperation in building a Cyber Security Center for the e-Government system and consulting support for the Public Administration Service Center. The National Assembly Chairman hopes that the Russian Government will continue to support and cooperate with the Vietnamese Government in this field.
Oil and gas cooperation is of strategic significance to Vietnam-Russia relations. The National Assembly Chairman asked the Russian Government to continue supporting and encouraging Russian oil and gas enterprises to participate in new oil and gas projects in Vietnam in accordance with international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
The National Assembly Chairman stated that Vietnam always creates favorable conditions and is ready to consider and resolve issues that may arise during the cooperation process in a spirit of friendship, taking into account the overall Vietnam-Russia relationship, ensuring effective cooperation and balancing the interests of both sides. The Vietnamese National Assembly is very interested and will continue to monitor and promote the removal of obstacles for Russian oil and gas enterprises in Vietnam.
The Center for Nuclear Science and Technology Research in Vietnam is an important cooperation project for the Vietnam-Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, opening up a new direction for strategic cooperation between the two countries. There are still some related issues, the National Assembly Chairman suggested that the Finance Ministries of both sides soon discuss and reach an agreement to begin implementation.
Prime Minister D. Medvedev emphasized that the Russian Federation and Vietnam have a very good relationship. 2020 is an occasion with many important events that Russia and Vietnam celebrate together. In 2019, the two Prime Ministers inaugurated the Cross Year with about 120 activities organized, contributing significantly to strengthening the friendship between the two countries. Prime Minister D. Medvedev assessed that the cooperation between the two countries' National Assemblies is very effective.
Discussing two-way trade relations, Prime Minister D. Medvedev said that this year's results have declined; at the same time, he agreed that both sides need to remove difficulties in currency payments and create favorable conditions for the import and export of agricultural products, medicines, and pharmaceuticals.
Regarding energy cooperation, Prime Minister D. Medvedev said that many companies of the two countries are cooperating well but there are also some technical problems arising. Prime Minister D. Medvedev affirmed that the Government of the Russian Federation will do its best to resolve them. The Russian Federation is ready to exchange and dialogue with Vietnam in removing difficulties and obstacles.
According to Prime Minister D. Medvedev, cooperation in education and training between the two countries is very important. The Russian government has increased the number of scholarships for Vietnamese students. Vietnam is currently a favorite destination for Russians. Therefore, according to Prime Minister D. Medvedev, the two sides need to promote cooperation in the field of tourism.
