Prime Minister hopes that overseas Vietnamese in Romania continue to preserve and promote national identity.

In the capital Bucharest, the Prime Minister attended a meeting with officials, staff of the Embassy and Vietnamese expatriates living, working and studying in Romania.

3,000 Vietnamese workers are working in Romania

On the afternoon of April 14 (local time), or the evening of April 14 Vietnam time, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, his wife and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation visited the staff of the Embassy and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Romania.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Romania Dang Tran Phong said that the Vietnamese community here has about 500 people; about 3,000 Vietnamese workers are working. Despite many difficulties, the people are always united, supporting each other to improve their lives and integrate into the local society...

In response to the Prime Minister's concern for the lives of overseas Vietnamese, representatives of the Vietnamese community in Romania made recommendations to the Government leaders on how to create better conditions for them to do business, live, and contribute to their homeland, as well as on cooperation with Romania in the fields of labor and investment.

The representative of the Vietnamese Association in Romania said that the lives of the people are relatively stable and they actively participate in the Association's activities (95% of overseas Vietnamese in Romania participate). 60% of the people have their own houses and businesses in Romania. The Association hopes that the Party and State will continue to pay attention and support equipment for teaching Vietnamese and organizing cultural and artistic programs for the community.

A construction graduate student in Romania said that he has devoted a lot of effort to writing a detailed guidebook of necessary things for international students and Vietnamese people coming to Romania for the first time and wants to popularize this guidebook.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc assessed that this visit is of great significance in promoting relations between the two countries, especially since this is the first visit by a Vietnamese Prime Minister to Romania since 1977.

The Prime Minister was also pleased with the development of the Vietnamese community in Romania, appreciating their efforts to have a stable life and integrate into the local society as they are today.

The Prime Minister expressed that on the occasion of the Hung Kings' death anniversary, many people from all over the country and abroad came to attend the ceremony, showing their hearts always turning towards their roots.

Remittances from Romania reach nearly 16 billion USD

The overseas Vietnamese community in general and in Romania in particular always look towards their homeland. In 2018, remittances reached 15.9 billion USD, an increase of more than 100 times compared to 141 million USD in 1993. Currently, there are nearly 3,000 overseas Vietnamese businesses investing in provinces and cities.

Every year, many overseas intellectuals return to the country to participate in cooperation programs on research and development of science - technology, education - training with domestic agencies...

The Prime Minister hopes that people will continue to unite, love and help each other in life; always preserve culture and national identity; strive to preserve the Vietnamese language and good customs of the nation, love and support each other, strive in life, strictly abide by local laws, always look towards the Fatherland, and contribute to playing a good role as a bridge in the friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

The Prime Minister affirmed that overseas Vietnamese, including the Vietnamese community in Romania, are an inseparable part of the Vietnamese national community. The State always creates conditions and has measures to support the community to stabilize, preserve national cultural identity, and contribute to the homeland and the country. The Fatherland always welcomes you.

The government has implemented many support programs to help overseas Vietnamese preserve the Vietnamese language and promote cultural identity and national traditions.

The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of family education and educating young people to look towards their homeland and country; he hoped that the Embassy would promote its role and do well in community work to help people in difficult times.

In response to the proposal to disseminate a handbook for Vietnamese people who have just arrived in Romania, the Prime Minister asked the Embassy to consider this issue. The Prime Minister assigned the Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, who also attended the meeting, to take necessary measures to promote labor cooperation with Romania.
