Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said that Russia wants to improve relations with Ukraine and this requires both sides to take steps towards each other, but given Kiev's actions it is difficult to predict the possibility of a change in relations between the two countries.

"Of course, Russia wants to improve relations with Ukraine. We are neighboring countries. There are many relatives of Russian citizens there. Similarly, there are many Ukrainians living in Russia," Medvedev told the Bulgarian newspaper Trud ahead of his visit to Bulgaria, speaking about changes in relations between Moscow and Kiev after the presidential election in Ukraine.

The people of the two countries have a common history and culture, he continued, noting that “until recently” Russia and Ukraine maintained mutually beneficial economic relations.

"But the current situation is very complicated. To change it, we need to take steps towards each other. However, Kiev's behavior makes it very difficult to make any predictions," the Russian Prime Minister said.
