Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung attended the funeral of Lee Kuan Yew.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, on behalf of the leaders of the Party, State, and Government of Vietnam, attended the state memorial service and funeral for former Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung arrived in Singapore yesterday to attend activities related to the memorial service for former Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew, to offer condolences to the government and people of Singapore and the family of the former Prime Minister Lee, and to sign the condolence book.

"On behalf of the Communist Party, the State, the Government, the people of Vietnam, and in my own name, I would like to extend my deepest condolences to the People's Action Party of Singapore, the State, the Government, the people of Singapore, and Mr. Lee Hsien Loong and his family," Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung wrote in the condolence book.

"Mr. Lee Kuan Yew was an outstanding leader and strategist of Singapore and the world, and a close friend of the Vietnamese people. I deeply cherish and preserve the memories of the profound and fruitful exchanges I had with Mr. Lee Kuan Yew. I believe that his legacy will forever be passed down through generations of Singaporeans. I respectfully bid farewell to Mr. Lee Kuan Yew," the Prime Minister wrote.

Attending the memorial service and funeral were heads of state and government from ASEAN countries, dialogue partners, and members of the East Asia Summit (EAS).

Following the memorial service and funeral procession, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung had a brief meeting with Singaporean President Tony Tan Keng Yam and many leaders of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and other countries attending the ceremony.

Later that evening, the Prime Minister and his entourage returned to Hanoi.
