Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung attended the funeral of Mr. Lee Kuan Yew.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung yesterday, on behalf of the leaders of the Party, State and Government of Vietnam, attended the national funeral and memorial service for former Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung arrived in Singapore yesterday to attend the memorial service for former Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew, express condolences to the Singaporean government, people and the family of former Prime Minister Lee, and sign the condolence book.

"On behalf of the Communist Party, the State, the Government, and the people of Vietnam, and on my own behalf, I would like to send my deepest condolences to the People's Action Party of Singapore, the State, the Government, and the people of Singapore, Mr. Lee Hsien Loong and his family," Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung wrote in the condolence book.

"Mr. Lee Kuan Yew was an outstanding leader and strategist of Singapore and the world, and a close friend of the Vietnamese people. I deeply cherish and cherish the memories of the profound and useful exchanges of ideas with Mr. Lee Kuan Yew. I believe that his legacy will forever be passed down by generations of Singaporeans. I respectfully bow my head and bid farewell to Mr. Lee Kuan Yew," the Prime Minister wrote.

Also attending the memorial service and funeral were heads of state and government of ASEAN countries, dialogue countries, and members of the East Asia Summit (EAS).

After the memorial service and funeral, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung had a brief meeting with Singaporean President Tony Tan Keng Yam and many leaders of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and other countries attending the ceremony.

In the evening of the same day, the Prime Minister and his entourage returned to Hanoi.
