This is one of Vietnam's largest patrol vessels, with a displacement of over 2,000 tons. The ship has a helicopter hangar and a helipad for helicopters during patrol missions.

Equipping the Vietnamese Fisheries Surveillance Force with large patrol vessels will enable them to conduct long-duration, offshore patrols to support fishermen and ensure law enforcement in Vietnam's waters.

Besides the KN 781 fisheries patrol vessel, a similar vessel is also being built by Ha Long Shipbuilding Company and is expected to be delivered in July.

On the same day, speaking at a working session with the leaders of the Vietnam Shipbuilding Industry Corporation at Ha Long Shipyard in Quang Ninh, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung requested the Corporation to continue focusing on restructuring, especially financial restructuring and debt resolution, production restructuring, and job creation for workers; and to accelerate the equitization of its affiliated enterprises.

In addition, the Corporation needs to pay close attention to improving its corporate governance capacity and ensuring the efficiency of its production and business operations.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung emphasized that Vietnam is a maritime nation with a vast sea area of over 1 million square kilometers. Aquaculture, fishing, oil and gas exploration, and maritime transport have brought significant benefits to the people and contributed to the country's development.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung stated that developing the shipbuilding industry is a correct policy of the Party and the State in the Strategy for the Development of the Marine Economy, aimed at serving and meeting the needs of fishing, transportation, and ensuring security and national defense at sea...

According to the Prime Minister, in recent years, the shipbuilding industry has made great strides. Vietnamese engineers and workers have built many generations of modern, high-quality ships in a short time. Therefore, it is necessary to continue to affirm and develop the shipbuilding industry, meeting both domestic needs and export demands.

Vinashin's weaknesses were not weaknesses of the shipbuilding industry as a whole, but rather weaknesses in leadership and management, corporate governance, financial management, and investment management. These weaknesses have been seriously acknowledged and dealt with resolutely and strictly, affirming the view that we will not abandon the shipbuilding industry because of the aforementioned weaknesses, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung emphasized.

From this perspective, the Party and State leaders decided to restructure Vinashin, retaining it as the Shipbuilding Industry Corporation with 8 key enterprises, which account for approximately 70% of the country's shipbuilding capacity.

Over the past period, the Vietnam Shipbuilding Industry Corporation has made tremendous efforts in fulfilling its assigned tasks, achieving many results in its operations. The Corporation has restructured its finances, restructured its production, reorganized its operations, maintained its shipbuilding capacity, divested from non-core investments... and at the same time performed very well in its assigned task of building fisheries patrol vessels, making a practical contribution to protecting national maritime sovereignty, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung praised.

Emphasizing that the fisheries patrol vessels of various sizes built by enterprises under the Corporation have been delivered with good quality and meet requirements, the Prime Minister directed the Corporation to continue building and delivering the remaining fisheries patrol vessels according to plan, coordinating closely with the fisheries patrol force to supplement the design of the vessels to suit practical requirements; and always be ready to carry out assigned tasks regarding maintenance, repair, and construction of vessels serving the fisheries patrol force and coast guard.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung also stated that we always want to equip fishermen with larger, more modern, and safer vessels, but this must be linked to efficiency and sustainability. Therefore, the pilot model of building steel-hulled fishing vessels for fishermen has been implemented, and the financial mechanism for the pilot project has also been put in place.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung instructed the Corporation to continue to closely coordinate with relevant agencies and fishermen to build steel-hulled vessels that meet the wishes and aspirations of fishermen, contributing effectively to the development of the marine fisheries industry.
