Welcoming former British Prime Minister Tony Blair's working visit to Vietnam, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung stated that the friendly relations and cooperation in various fields between the two countries have developed well in recent times, but are still not commensurate with their potential.
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung affirmed that Vietnam wishes to work together with the United Kingdom to develop the Vietnam-UK Strategic Partnership in a comprehensive and substantive manner across all fields: political-diplomatic, economic-trade-investment, education-training, and people-to-people exchanges. In addition, Vietnam hopes that the United Kingdom will continue to support Vietnam in poverty reduction, socio-economic infrastructure development, and climate change adaptation.
Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair expressed his deep admiration for Vietnam's socio-economic development achievements, poverty reduction, and implementation of the Millennium Development Goals in recent years. He also highly appreciated Vietnam's proactive approach to international integration, its efforts to promote economic reforms, and its creation of a favorable business environment for domestic and foreign investors. The former Prime Minister affirmed his readiness to share experiences with Vietnam in areas such as attracting foreign investment, responding to climate change, developing public-private partnership (PPP) models, and developing education and training.
During his working visit to Vietnam, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair will meet with the Minister of Planning and Investment, Bui Quang Vinh, and will also attend and present a paper at the seminar on "Global Investment Trends: Recommendations for Vietnam," organized by the Ministry of Planning and Investment in collaboration with the Tony Blair Office in Hanoi.
