On the afternoon of January 20th, at the Government Headquarters, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung received the Deputy Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Belgium, Johan Vande Lanotte, who was on a visit and working trip to Vietnam.

On behalf of the Vietnamese Government, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung welcomed and highly appreciated the visit and working trip to Vietnam by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Belgium, Johan Vande Lanotte; stating that the visit would make an important contribution to strengthening the friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung emphasized that this year, Vietnam and Belgium are celebrating the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, a significant milestone in the relationship between the two countries. Vietnam hopes to work with Belgium to strengthen political and diplomatic relations as a foundation for further promoting strong cooperation in economics, trade, investment, ODA, as well as supporting and assisting each other in international forums.

Expressing his admiration for Vietnam's socio-economic development achievements, Deputy Prime Minister Johan Vande Lanotte emphasized that Belgium wishes to strengthen friendly relations and promote cooperation with Vietnam, especially in trade and investment. Belgian investors are eager to expand their investments in Vietnam, particularly in the Dinh Vu Industrial Park in Hai Phong.

Belgium is also ready to act as a bridge for Vietnam to increase exports to Europe, and is prepared to promote cooperation with Vietnam in the fields of high technology, space, satellites, as well as ODA.

Deputy Prime Minister Johan Vande Lanotte affirmed that Belgium is striving to push for the European Union to conclude negotiations and sign a free trade agreement with Vietnam as soon as possible. This will bring development opportunities for both countries, especially in the logistics sector, which is a strength of Belgium, and Belgium is also ready to share experience and cooperate with Vietnam in this field.
