Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc begins official visit to Norway
On the evening of May 23, local time (early morning of May 24, Vietnam time), Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and his wife, along with a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, arrived at Gardermoen Airport, Oslo, beginning an official visit to the Kingdom of Norway.

Welcoming the Prime Minister, his wife and the delegation at the airport were Norwegian Deputy Foreign Minister Marianne Hagen, Norwegian Ambassador to Vietnam Grete Lochen, representatives of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and on the Vietnamese side, Vietnamese Ambassador to Norway Nguyen Hong Cuong, officials and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy and the Vietnamese community in Norway.
According to the working program, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc will hold talks with the Prime Minister of Norway, meet with the Speaker of the Norwegian Parliament, attend the Vietnam-Norway Business Forum, receive large corporations and visit a number of production facilities in Norway, a country with a lot of experience in marine economy, ranked in the top 10 largest seafood producing countries in the world. Currently, the Vietnamese community in Norway has about more than 20,000 people (the largest in Northern Europe).

This visit by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc takes place in the context of Vietnam and Norway about to celebrate the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations (1971-2021). 48 years ago, Norway was one of the first European countries to officially establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam.

Norway is currently one of the largest donors to Vietnam in the United Nations Programme on Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions through Reducing Deforestation and Forest Degradation (UN-REDD).
