Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc commends officials and civil servants for receiving people nationwide
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has sent an official letter to: the Central Inspection Commission; the Central Internal Affairs Commission; the Central Party Office; the National Assembly Office; the President's Office; the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; the People's Committees of provinces and centrally run cities; ministries, ministerial-level agencies, government agencies; and the Central Citizen Reception Committee.

The official letter dated February 3 clearly stated: In 2018, People's Committees at all levels, the Inspection sector and relevant agencies organized citizen receptions, focused on resolving complaints and denunciations in accordance with the provisions of law.
In particular, the Central Citizen Reception Office has presided over and coordinated with relevant agencies and local authorities to receive nearly 20,000 people and over 500 large groups; received and processed over 13,000 petitions; mobilized and persuaded 145 citizens to return to their localities and supported travel expenses for 115 citizens; no more citizens filed complaints at the Central Citizen Reception Office, helping all citizens, including those who filed complaints, to have the conditions to return home to celebrate Tet with their families.
On behalf of the Government, the Prime Minister commended the cadres and civil servants who received citizens nationwide, especially the Central Citizen Reception Committee and the agencies participating in receiving citizens and resolving complaints and denunciations at the Central Citizen Reception Headquarters (Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Central Inspection Committee, Central Internal Affairs Committee, Central Party Office, National Assembly Office, Office of the President, Government Office, Ministry of Public Security, Hanoi People's Committee under the chairmanship of the Government Inspectorate) for their efforts and successful completion of assigned tasks, contributing to protecting the legitimate rights and interests of the people, ensuring political security and social order and safety.
To improve the effectiveness of citizen reception in the coming time, the Prime Minister requested the Government Inspectorate, relevant ministries and branches, People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities and officials and civil servants receiving citizens immediately after the Lunar New Year holiday to focus on performing well the following tasks:
1. Officials and civil servants receiving citizens must strictly comply with legal regulations on receiving citizens, uphold responsibility, understand and share people's reflections and concerns, and promptly propose competent authorities to resolve people's legitimate petitions.
2. The Government Inspectorate continues to focus on inspecting and urging the settlement of complaints and denunciations, especially for crowded, complicated, and prolonged cases.
3. Relevant agencies, especially authorities at all levels, must send officials with sufficient authority, professional qualifications, understanding of social work, ability to do mass mobilization work, and a good grasp of the law to participate in receiving citizens at the Central Citizen Reception Office.
4. The People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities shall promptly and effectively coordinate with the Government Inspectorate, the Ministry of Public Security and relevant ministries and branches to do a good job of receiving citizens, ensuring social order and safety, especially in handling mass, complicated and prolonged complaints; strictly handle individuals who violate the law and cause social disorder.
