Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc meets Cambodian Prime Minister

On the occasion of attending the 3rd Mekong River Commission Summit in Siem Reap, Cambodia, on April 4, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc had a bilateral meeting with Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen.

At the meeting, Prime Minister Hun Sen welcomed Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and the Vietnamese Government's high-ranking delegation to Cambodia to attend the 3rd Mekong River Commission Summit hosted by Cambodia, expressing his belief that the participation of the Vietnamese delegation will contribute to the overall success of the Conference.

Delighted to return to Cambodia on the occasion of the Cambodian people preparing to celebrate the traditional Chol Chnam Thmey 2018, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc highly appreciated the fact that Cambodia, right after the success of the Mekong-Lancang Summit in January, continued to host the third Mekong River Commission Summit, contributing to enhancing Cambodia's role and position in the region.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc highly appreciated and congratulated the great achievements that the Cambodian people have achieved in the cause of national construction and development and sincerely wished the Cambodian people, under the leadership of the Government headed by Prime Minister Hun Sen, to continue to be stable and successfully organize the National Assembly election in 2018. The Prime Minister affirmed that Vietnam's consistent policy always attaches importance to and wishes to continue to strengthen the friendly neighborly relationship and comprehensive cooperation with Cambodia.

The two Prime Ministers expressed satisfaction with the positive developments in bilateral relations in recent times; and expressed their determination to deepen and bring the friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries to a new height.

The two Prime Ministers highly appreciated the signing of the Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement and the Minutes of the meeting of the two Chairmen of the Vietnam-Cambodia Joint Committee on Land Border Demarcation and Marker Planting on the sidelines of the 6th Greater Mekong Subregion Summit (GMS 6) and the 10th Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam Development Triangle Summit (CLV 10) in Hanoi recently.

The two sides also agreed to maintain the exchange of high-level visits; coordinate to organize well the 16th meeting of the Vietnam-Cambodia Joint Committee on Economic, Cultural, Scientific and Technical Cooperation in Hanoi from May 16-18. The two sides discussed issues of mutual concern, including border issues, people of Vietnamese origin in Cambodia, etc. They praised the efforts of the Joint Committee on Land Border Demarcation and Marker Planting of the two countries in completing a large amount of work in the past time and hoped that the two sides would complete this work as soon as possible.

The two sides also agreed to coordinate in resolving issues related to the legal status of people of Vietnamese origin in Cambodia on the basis of Cambodian law and the traditional spirit of friendship between the two countries./.
