Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc visits the US for the first time

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc will pay an official visit to the United States from May 29-31.

At the invitation of US President Donald Trump, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc will officially visit the US from May 29-31, 2017. This is his first official visit to the US as Prime Minister.

The visit took place in the context of good relations between the two countries, especially since the official visit to the United States by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in July 2015 with an important highlight - the United States lifted the embargo on lethal weapons for Vietnam.

This is a step towards fully normalizing relations between the two countries.

The United States currently ranks 8th among countries and territories with foreign direct investment in Vietnam. Trade relations between the two countries have continuously increased, from 15 billion USD in 2008 to 52 billion USD in 2016.

In 2016, US exports to Vietnam reached over 10 billion USD, an increase of 43% compared to 2015.
