Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc leaves for the 31st ASEAN Summit in the Philippines
On the afternoon of November 12, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc led the Vietnamese delegation leaving Hanoi for the Philippines to attend the 31st ASEAN Summit and related conferences at the invitation of Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte from November 12-14.

Accompanying Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on this trip were Minister, Chairman of the Government Office Mai Tien Dung; Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Quoc Dung; Deputy Minister of Public Security, Senior Lieutenant General Bui Van Nam; Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Quoc Khanh; Ambassador, Head of the Vietnamese Delegation to ASEAN Nguyen Hoanh Nam; Vietnamese Ambassador to the Philippines Ly Quoc Tuan; Vietnamese Ambassador to Indonesia Hoang Anh Tuan and Assistant to the Prime Minister Bui Huy Hung.
The 31st ASEAN Summit is the most important event of the year for ASEAN with the participation of leaders of 10 ASEAN countries and partners including major countries such as China, Japan, South Korea, the United States, India, Russia and Australia; important regional and international organizations including the EU and the United Nations.
In the context of complicated developments in the world and the region, increasing protectionism and more and more challenges, unlike previous times, this Conference will emphasize the consolidation and strengthening of solidarity and the central role of ASEAN; promoting economic growth; narrowing the development gap and enhancing the capacity of the ASEAN Community to have a self-reliant ASEAN, serving the interests of the people of member countries and ensuring a peaceful, secure and stable environment in the region.
Overall, ASEAN maintained a stable economic growth rate of 5% per year in 2017, with intra-regional trade reaching 23.1%.
At the same time, ASEAN's relations with Dialogue Partners continue to be strengthened. ASEAN currently has Dialogue relations with 11 partners, including 7 Strategic Partners and 88 partners sending Ambassadors to ASEAN. On this occasion, at the ASEAN Summits with partners, the Leaders will review and propose directions and measures to strengthen cooperation in the coming time, discuss a number of international and regional issues of mutual concern, as well as discuss ASEAN's central role in the regional structure.
