Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc requested urgent support for Nghe An to fight drought.
The Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to preside over and coordinate with relevant ministries, branches and localities to focus on directing and urgently deploying response measures and supporting people in Nghe An and Thanh Hoa provinces to prevent and combat drought.

The Government Office has just issued Official Dispatch No. 5890/VPCP-NN stating the Prime Minister's direction on responding to and supporting drought prevention and control in the North Central provinces.
The document stated that recently, the Vietnam Agriculture Electronic Newspaper and some newspapers have reported on the prolonged heat wave that has been causing hardship for farmers in Nghe An and Thanh Hoa. In Nghe An, more than 8,000 hectares of rice are suffering from drought, of which nearly 2,000 hectares have dried up; in Thanh Hoa, 241/610 reservoirs are below the dead water level, of which many have run out of water, and about 7,500 hectares of rice are lacking water.
The Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to preside over and coordinate with relevant ministries, branches and localities to focus on directing and urgently deploying response measures and supporting people in preventing and combating drought.
