The Japanese Prime Minister concludes his visit to Vietnam successfully.

On the morning of January 17th, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and his wife departed Hanoi, successfully concluding their official visit to Vietnam from January 16-17 at the invitation of Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and his wife.

During his visit to Vietnam, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe held highly successful talks in a truly friendly, sincere, trusting, and mutually understanding atmosphere with Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung. He also paid courtesy calls on General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and President Truong Tan Sang.

During the meetings, both sides expressed satisfaction with the rapid and comprehensive development of cooperation between Vietnam and Japan in recent years and reached a high degree of consensus on major directions as well as specific measures to further strengthen and consolidate the strategic partnership between the two countries.

To continuously strengthen and consolidate the friendly cooperative relationship between the two countries, both sides agreed on the need to continue maintaining and enhancing visits and contacts between high-level leaders of the two countries, as well as dialogue at all levels; closely coordinate to effectively implement agreements of high-level leaders of both sides on economic cooperation, especially important infrastructure projects such as the North-South Expressway, Lach Huyen Port, the Ninh Thuan 2 Nuclear Power Plant construction project, the rare earth mining and processing project, as well as Japan's acceptance of Vietnamese nurses and caregivers.

Vietnam expresses its gratitude and appreciation for Japan's active support in Vietnam's socio-economic development through ODA cooperation over the past 20 years. It also highly values ​​the Japanese Prime Minister's commitment to continue providing a high level of ODA, as well as the announcement of a $500 million ODA grant for three projects.

Vietnam also highly appreciates Japan's support in helping Vietnam develop development strategies, especially the Vietnam Industrialization Development Strategy within the framework of Vietnam-Japan cooperation towards 2020 with a vision to 2030.

Both sides agreed to strengthen cooperation on international and regional issues, as well as issues of mutual interest, and to coordinate closely in organizing activities to commemorate the 40th anniversary of ASEAN-Japan dialogue relations.

Both sides agreed that all countries need to cooperate closely with each other and make positive, constructive contributions to maintaining peace, stability, cooperation, and prosperity in the region, resolving all disputes and issues through peaceful negotiations, based on international law.

Both sides expressed confidence that the results of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's visit to Vietnam mark a new, comprehensive phase of development in the strategic partnership between Vietnam and Japan.

To commemorate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and Prime Minister Shinzo Abe declared the opening of the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Year 2013 and affirmed their commitment to close cooperation to successfully organize the activities of the Friendship Year in each country.
