On the morning of August 16th, attending and speaking at a meeting commemorating the 69th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the People's Public Security Force (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2014); receiving the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces for collectives and individuals; and launching a special emulation movement towards the 70th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the People's Public Security Force and the 10th anniversary of the National Day for Protecting National Security, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung stated that, over the past 69 years, under the leadership and guidance of the Party and the State, and with the close and heartfelt support of the people, the People's Public Security Force has been born, worked, fought, and matured; always remaining loyal to the Fatherland, the people, the Party, the State, and the regime.
Highlighting the country's significant achievements in recent times, as well as analyzing the advantages, difficulties, and challenges the country is facing, especially the complex developments in the East Sea and challenges related to political security and social order, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung emphasized that the most important task of the country is to build and protect the nation, to protect the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland; to maintain peace, independence, and territorial integrity; and to achieve the goal of a prosperous people, a strong nation, democracy, fairness, and civilization.
Reminding the officers and soldiers of the People's Public Security Force of the importance of ensuring security and order, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung expressed his wish that the People's Public Security Force would uphold its fine traditions and achievements, strive to overcome limitations and weaknesses, and maintain the country's political security; combat and prevent the formation of reactionary organizations that oppose the Fatherland and the revolutionary cause of the Party and the people. In addition, he urged them to effectively learn from experience and focus on decisively and effectively directing the work of ensuring social order and safety, protecting the peaceful lives of the people; especially combating organized crime and gang-related crimes.
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung requested the Ministry of Public Security to focus on building a revolutionary, professional, elite, and progressively modern People's Public Security force, with some areas immediately embracing modernization to ensure the effective fulfillment of the functions, tasks, and responsibilities entrusted by the Party, State, and people; to do a good job in political and ideological work, building a clean, strong force that is absolutely loyal to the Party, State, and people, and maintaining close ties with the people.
At the meeting, on behalf of the Ministry of Public Security's leadership, General Tran Dai Quang, Minister of Public Security, reviewed the traditions and highlighted the contributions of the People's Public Security force over the past 69 years of accompanying the country; affirming the outstanding achievements, victories, and growth of the People's Public Security force, which have been diligently contributed to and developed by generations of police officers and soldiers throughout the revolutionary periods.
"The tradition of solidarity, unity, unwavering resolve in the face of all difficulties and challenges, readiness to bravely sacrifice and dedicate oneself, and love for comrades and fellow soldiers of previous generations will always be a source of pride and a shining example for generations of police officers and soldiers to learn from and emulate," General Tran Dai Quang stated.
Referring to the political tasks of the People's Public Security Force in the coming period, General Tran Dai Quang emphasized that the country is entering a new period of development amidst complex developments in the world and the region, especially in the East Sea.
Hostile and reactionary forces have never abandoned their plots and activities against the Vietnamese revolution; they are relentlessly carrying out "peaceful evolution," thoroughly exploiting the trends of globalization, "democratization," and international integration to influence and transform internal affairs, support and incite opposition aimed at causing political and social instability.
Negative factors stemming from the downsides of the market economy and international integration are impacting internal political security, ideological security, cultural security, economic security, information security, and social security, and are on the rise; crime and social vices remain complex, with the emergence of many new types of crime and non-traditional security threats.
General Tran Dai Quang stated that, in this context, the task of protecting security and order is extremely challenging, requiring the People's Public Security force to continue innovating its professional thinking and work methods, firmly grasping the situation, proactively advising the Party and State on policies and solutions to ensure security and order; promptly detecting and thwarting all conspiracies and subversive activities of hostile and reactionary forces; repelling threats and eliminating factors causing political and social instability; avoiding passivity and surprise; and preventing the formation of opposition political organizations domestically. This includes ensuring internal political security, cultural and ideological security, information security, economic security, and social security; maintaining security in strategic and key areas; promptly and effectively resolving complex issues that arise; and absolutely protecting important national targets and events.
General Tran Dai Quang respectfully presented the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces - a prestigious award from the Party and State - to the collective of officers and soldiers of the B14 Temporary Detention Center, Investigation Security Department, General Department of Security 2, Ministry of Public Security; Major General Dao Trong Hung, Director of Department A69, General Department of Security 1; Major General Nguyen Quang Phong, former Deputy Director General of the General Department of Security; and the family members of police officers Pham Van Bong and Phan Van Xoan.
On this occasion, the Central Party Committee of Public Security and the Ministry of Public Security launched a special emulation movement "Promoting the 70-year tradition - the People's Public Security Force sacrificing themselves for the nation and serving the people" from August 19, 2014 to August 19, 2015.
