The Vietnamese delegation visiting the Kingdom of Cambodia included: Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man; Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son; Minister, Head of the Government Office Tran Van Son; Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung; Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien; Minister of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung; Minister of Transport Nguyen Van Thang; Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung; Minister, Head of the Ethnic Committee Hau A Lenh; Governor of the State Bank Nguyen Thi Hong; Deputy Minister of National Defense Vu Hai San; Deputy Minister of Public Security Luong Tam Quang; Vietnamese Ambassador to the Kingdom of Cambodia Nguyen Huy Tang; General Director of the Voice of Vietnam Do Tien Sy; Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu; Deputy Head of the Government Office Nguyen Xuan Thanh; President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations Nguyen Phuong Nga; Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Hoang Hiep.

According to Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Minh Vu, Vietnam and Cambodia are two close neighbors, sharing a border, the Mekong River and close relations in all fields. The upcoming official visit to Cambodia is the first by Comrade Pham Minh Chinh as Prime Minister and is of great significance in many aspects, in the context that 2022 is also the year to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Cambodia.

Over the past time, the good neighborly relations, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, and long-term sustainability between the two countries have continued to develop steadily. High-ranking leaders of the two countries have maintained visits, contacts, and exchanges in various forms, even when the COVID-19 pandemic was still complicated. After the two countries reopened and Cambodia successfully organized the 5th commune/ward elections, the exchange of high-level delegations and all levels increased sharply. The two sides coordinated to organize many meaningful activities within the framework of the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Year to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (June 24, 1967 - June 24, 2022).

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's visit to Cambodia will contribute to developing relations between Vietnam and neighboring countries and ASEAN countries; in which, giving high priority to the good neighborly relationship, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, long-term sustainability with Cambodia; continuing to bring the comprehensive cooperation between the two countries into a new stage of development on the basis of equality, mutual benefit, effective cooperation, and respect for each other's interests.

In the friendly and close atmosphere of the "Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Year 2022", the visit demonstrates the coordination, cooperation and mutual support between Vietnam and Cambodia at regional and international forums; demonstrates Vietnam's support for Cambodia to successfully assume the role of ASEAN Chair 2022, together contributing to promoting solidarity, unity, consolidating the central role, and enhancing ASEAN's self-reliance in responding to challenges.

The visit will continue to bring the relationship with Cambodia into substance and effectiveness in all aspects of politics - diplomacy, defense - security; economy, trade, investment (in which promoting the strengths of border trade and improving the efficiency of the border gate system); border cooperation; culture, education...

In the overall extensive and comprehensive relationship in many fields, channels, and levels, and on the basis of the excellent political relationship, economic-trade-investment cooperation and border, security and defense cooperation will continue to be promoted in the coming time.

The economic, trade and investment sector is a bright spot in the bilateral relationship and will be the focus of the Prime Minister's visit. In recent times, this sector has developed remarkably, with two-way trade likely to exceed 10 billion USD this year. Vietnam's investment in Cambodia continues to lead ASEAN, reaching nearly 3 billion USD. Vietnam is one of the countries with the largest number of tourists to Cambodia.

During the visit, the two leaders will discuss measures to enhance connectivity between the two economies, continue to promote bilateral investment and trade, including border trade, cooperate in economic development in border areas, create more favorable conditions for investment and business activities of enterprises of the two countries, and continue to strengthen tourism cooperation.

Also during the visit, the Prime Minister will meet with the Vietnamese community in the host country, demonstrating the deep concern, understanding and sharing of the Party and State with the Vietnamese community who still suffer many difficulties in the host country, contributing to the implementation of Conclusion 12-KL/TW dated August 12, 2021 of the Politburo on the work of overseas Vietnamese in the new situation, contributing to promoting the great solidarity and strength of the entire nation.
