Prime Minister visits and works with Military Region 5 Command
Lunar New Year and Valentine's Day 14/2 are approaching, the demand for flower baskets and gift baskets has increased dramatically, workers are working day and night to produce and cannot keep up with orders.
This morning (February 11), Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc visited and worked with the Military Region 5 Command, accompanied by leaders of the Government Office, Chairman of the Da Nang City People's Committee and representatives of central ministries and branches.

Reporting to Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Lieutenant General Nguyen Long Cang, Commander of Military Region 5, said that up to now, the Military Region Command has deployed the 2018 military and defense missions to districts in 11 provinces and cities in the Central and Central Highlands regions, coordinating with localities to develop defense plans, be ready for combat, and proactively handle situations. Military Region 5 has also mobilized tens of billions of VND to build gratitude houses, comrade houses... to give to policy families, helping 3 Cambodian provinces and 4 southern Lao provinces to establish sister cities.
The Military Region Command has spent 45 billion VND to give more than 45,000 gifts to the poor and policy families. At the same time, it has brought soldiers back to celebrate Tet with remote villages in the Central Highlands provinces, and has troops on standby to be ready to fight during Tet.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc informed the officers and generals of the Military Region 5 Command about some basic features of the country's economic and social situation in 2017. Accordingly, last year, despite many difficulties due to natural disasters and floods, for the first time in history, the country's economic indicators exceeded the plan, social security was given attention, the investment and business environment improved; and national reserves increased.
The national defense and security tasks are maintained, the production reorganization of defense units for economic purposes is gradually put into order, the national defense potential is growing, the mass mobilization work is effective, and the political security situation is maintained. The trust of society and the market in the country is increasingly stable.
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc commended and highly appreciated the great achievements in all aspects of the Military Region's armed forces in 2017. According to the Prime Minister, officers and soldiers of the Military Region 5 armed forces have performed well the National Defense tasks approved by the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense, and have performed drills, combat readiness training, and defense zone construction, especially supporting people in responding to storms and floods, citizen mobilization, and Party building effectively.
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc affirmed that Military Region 5 was a fierce battlefield in the resistance wars to protect the fatherland, so it is necessary to do a good job of military rear work, coordinate well with local authorities and military branches in the area, in carrying out political tasks.
The Prime Minister requested the armed forces of Military Region 5 to strengthen their close contact with the people and the locality, grasp the base, do a good job in the military rear area, help people prevent natural disasters, overcome the consequences of storms and floods, build militia and self-defense forces, and perform their tasks well. The Prime Minister requested to take care of the lives of officers and soldiers in remote areas during Tet.

On the occasion of the Lunar New Year, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc sent New Year wishes to all armed forces of Military Region 5 for a new year of peace, prosperity, and further achievements worthy of the heroic tradition of Military Region 5.
“I am also very happy that you have a program to take care of Tet for the troops, especially the officers and soldiers in remote, disadvantaged, and disaster-prone areas where the troops are on duty. You pay attention to taking care of the material and spiritual lives of the military forces in the area. Today, the 25th of Tet, I once again wish the Command, the Political Commissar, and the subordinate units a Happy New Year. All comrades of Military Region 5 will strive to train and excellently complete the tasks assigned by the Party and the Army in the new year.”
