Prime Minister interviewed by Japanese media
In an interview with Japanese media ahead of his official visit to Japan from June 4-8, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc expressed his desire to "deepen the strategic partnership for peace and prosperity in the region."

The Prime Minister emphasized the view of building closer relations with Japan, strengthening cooperation in the economic field, and setting the goal of doubling bilateral investment and trade turnover by 2020.
In the article “Vietnamese Prime Minister: Cooperate to implement TPP”, Nikkei newspaper on the morning of June 3 quoted Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc emphasizing that the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP) is an agreement to connect the economies of the Asia-Pacific region, with the meaning of mutual development, so this is an extremely important agreement.
Based on the assessment of the future direction of TPP after the US announced its withdrawal from the agreement, Vietnam believes that it is possible to promote the solution proposed by Japan, which is to continue pursuing TPP with 11 members without the US. Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc also highly appreciated Japan's efforts in promoting the search for a solution to this issue.
According to Jiji news agency, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc affirmed to “maintain close cooperation with TPP participating countries, first and foremost Japan”. Vietnam highly appreciates the efforts of the Japanese government in promoting the early entry into force of the TPP in the member countries that have signed it.
Regarding the issue of attracting more investment from Japan, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc pointed out that in the digital age, new techniques are the key to improving production efficiency. The Vietnamese Prime Minister gave some examples of tourism, factories, and agriculture where Japan has applied information technology and Smart City.
Meanwhile, the news on the NHK television website on June 3 said: Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc welcomed the responsibility and active contributions of countries around the world, including Japan, to ensuring security, safety and freedom of navigation in the East Sea. Jjji news agency also quoted Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc as once again affirming the resolution of the East Sea issue by peaceful means.
As planned, during his 5-day visit to Japan, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc is expected to meet the King and Queen of Japan and hold talks with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
