Prime Minister posthumously awarded certificate of merit to reporter Dinh Huu Du

At the request of the General Director of Vietnam News Agency, Head of the Central Emulation and Reward Committee, the Prime Minister posthumously awarded a certificate of merit to Dinh Huu Du.

On October 20, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh signed a decision to posthumously award a Prime Minister's certificate of merit to Vietnam News Agency reporter Dinh Huu Du, who died while filming floods at Ngoi Thia bridge (Nghia Lo town, Yen Bai).

Previously, the Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention decided to posthumously award a certificate of merit from the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development - Head of the Steering Committee to reporter Dinh Huu Du for bravely sacrificing himself while performing the task of propagating about natural disaster prevention.

Mr. Dinh Huu Du was born in 1988, from Ninh Binh city. Graduated from the Faculty of Journalism, Academy of Journalism and Communication, he then studied for a master's degree and in 2016 was admitted to Vietnam News Agency, assigned to Yen Bai branch.

At noon on October 11, while filming the flood situation on Ngoi Thia bridge (Nghia Lo town), the flood suddenly collapsed a bridge pillar, Mr. Du fell into the flood, still wearing his backpack with computer and camera.

After more than two days missing, on the afternoon of October 13, Du's body was found at the foot of Van Phu Bridge, Yen Bai City, nearly 100 km from Ngoi Thia Bridge. Du's funeral was held on the afternoon of October 14 in his hometown.

Reporter Du was loved by his friends and colleagues for his gentleness, diligence, and passion for journalism. Ten days before his death, he became an official reporter for the Vietnam News Agency, after a year of probation at the agency.
