Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc stated that corporate culture is not only the image of the enterprise but also the image of the nation.

On the evening of November 7, at the Hanoi Opera House, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc attended and launched the campaign "Building Vietnamese Corporate Culture". The ceremony was organized by the Vietnam Corporate Culture Development Association. Also at the ceremony, the Organizing Committee announced Decision No. 1846/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister to take November 10 every year as "Vietnam Corporate Culture Day".

Also attending the launching ceremony were Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thien, Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Mr. Nguyen The Ky, Member of the Party Central Committee, General Director of VTV; Mr. Nguyen Duc Chung, Member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee; Ms. Truong Thi Ngoc Anh, Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front... along with representatives of leaders of central agencies and departments and Hanoi City, representatives of leaders of enterprises, corporations, general companies, companies, and businessmen across the country.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Prime Minister said that a good brand is not only an asset of a business but also a national asset, which is why the current creative government pays great attention to corporate culture, business culture and business ethics.

From the reality that brands such as Toyota, Samsung, Apple have existed for decades, standing firm through difficult times, the Prime Minister said that it is because those businesses have a strong corporate culture foundation, and some brands have even become symbols of a country. In Vietnam today, the Prime Minister said that there are brands built on commitments to values and principles of sustainable development such as TH True Milk, Vinamilk, Viettel, Truong Hai Automobile Company... Thanks to upholding the principles and values of the times, Vietnam has had products present in demanding markets that are welcomed by the world market.

Pointing out the cultural characteristics of businesses in some countries, the Prime Minister asked, what is the cultural characteristic of Vietnamese businesses: "I think that is a question that each business will have its own answer. But I think that the basic principles, or in other words, the core values, are the foundation and vitality of corporate culture.

Those principles or values can be integrity, creativity, professionalism, dedication or environmental responsibility... As long as society and customers believe in these values and principles of a business, that business has the opportunity to grow and develop. Losing culture in general, losing corporate culture in particular, is losing oneself. There is no greater and more difficult loss to overcome than that loss. Our grandparents used to say very correctly, losing trust is losing everything. Corporate culture is also the trust of customers".

The Prime Minister stated that corporate culture is not only the image of the enterprise but also the image of the nation, especially when Vietnam participates in bilateral and multilateral agreements. When Vietnam ratifies the TPP and this agreement comes into effect, if any enterprise does not respect the rights of workers, pollutes the environment, that is, violates the core principles and values, it will not enjoy TPP incentives and will not be able to do business with TPP partners.

When it comes to corporate culture, the factor often mentioned is “social responsibility”. The Prime Minister noted that businesses that build bridges, do charity work, build roads, and build schools are very good and should be commended. However, that is only a part of social responsibility. One of the key factors that make up social responsibility is the way business people do business, behave towards the environment, towards workers, and comply with the law. All businesses that pollute the environment, use child labor, treat workers unfairly, evade taxes, and transfer prices are “socially irresponsible” businesses, and sooner or later will be boycotted by domestic and foreign consumers.

On the occasion of announcing the Vietnam Corporate Culture Day on November 10, the Prime Minister launched the campaign to Build Vietnamese Corporate Culture. The campaign focuses on raising awareness and thoroughly understanding the role of corporate culture in the business community and each Vietnamese enterprise from the time of establishment and throughout the production and business activities; building and developing the foundation of Vietnamese corporate culture associated with the good traditional values of the nation; each entrepreneur and each enterprise resolutely says no to violations of the law and business ethics, causing harm to society...
