Italian PM admits 'very sad' as EU expands sanctions on Moscow
At a joint press conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte admitted he was saddened by the EU's expansion of sanctions against Moscow.

During a joint press conference, Putin and Conte expressed their readiness to work to improve relations between Moscow and Brussels. The Russian leader noted that there are some opportunities for cooperation with the European Union, but much depends on European partners.
The Russian president stressed that he does not see "unsolvable problems, insurmountable obstacles on the path to the full restoration of these relations."
In return, the Italian Prime Minister said that the government would work to facilitate the lifting of sanctions against Russia. In addition, the Prime Minister admitted that he was "very sad" that the EU had expanded sanctions against Moscow.
