In response to public outrage over large-scale deforestation in An Lao district, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc requested authorities in Binh Dinh province to investigate and clarify the matter.

Authorities need to strictly handle violations according to regulations and report the results to the Prime Minister before October 30.

Determining that this is a large-scale deforestation case of serious nature that needs to be investigated and clarified for handling according to the provisions of law, the People's Committee of An Lao district proposed that the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee direct the police and forest rangers to support the locality in investigating and verifying the deforestation case.

An Lao District Forest Protection Department has conducted measurements and determined that 43.7 hectares of forest managed by An Hung Commune have been illegally destroyed. The felled trees have a diameter of 10-35 cm, and the trunks are 8-11 m long.

On the morning of September 9, the Binh Dinh Interdisciplinary Inspection Team inspected the scene of the natural forest destruction that occurred in plots 7 and 8, sub-zone 1, An Hung commune (An Lao district).

After inspecting the scene, Mr. Phan Trong Ho, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Binh Dinh, said that this was a serious case of deforestation, with a large area of ​​forest destroyed.

Faced with this situation, the Provincial People's Committee has issued a document requesting the Provincial Police to investigate and promptly identify the perpetrators for handling in accordance with the law. An Lao District is urgently completing the case file to initiate a criminal investigation and strictly handle the violating individuals and organizations.

This locality also recommended that the authorities increase local support forces in blocking and protecting forests in the border area of ​​An Lao and Hoai Nhon districts.
