According to feedback, although antibiotics are prescription drugs, in Vietnam antibiotics are sold anywhere, anytime without a prescription, causing antibiotic resistance, leading to users having to pay high costs to be treated with new drugs when they have a disease that is resistant to antibiotics.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has warned that by 2050, antibiotic resistance could be the cause of 10 million deaths worldwide. More alarmingly, among the countries with serious antibiotic resistance, Vietnam is one of the top countries.

Regarding this matter, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc assigned the Ministry of Health to check the above content and report to the Prime Minister before December 15, 2016./.
