Losing narrowly to U16 Indonesia, U16 Vietnam missed the chance to win the U16 International Championship
Losing 0-1 to U16 Indonesia in the final, U16 Vietnam missed the chance to win the Japan U16 International Championship.
In the final match of the Japan U16 International Championship taking place this afternoon (March 12), coach Dinh The Nam made 4 changes in the starting lineup compared to the match against Thailand U16. Accordingly, Nguyen Van Viet replaced Nguyen Duy Dung in the goalkeeping position, Nguyen Quoc Hoang, Vo Minh Dan, Dau Ngoc Thanh entered the field to replace Hoang Van Thong, Doan Chi Bao and Ha Trung Hau.
U16 Vietnam took the initiative to play offensively, but faced with the pressing and fearless style of play of U16 Indonesia, we encountered many difficulties. Despite that, coach Dinh The Nam's students still created some dangerous situations in front of the opponent's goal, but unfortunately we were unable to take advantage of them.

In the second half, Indonesia played very well, they were awarded a penalty in the 60th minute, after a foul by a U16 Vietnam player in the penalty area. The opposing team took advantage of the opportunity to open the score of the match.
Conceding a goal first, U16 Vietnam put all their efforts into attacking. In the final minutes of the match, coach Dinh The Nam's players had at least 2 opportunities to score, but Trung Hau and Nguyen Hoang both missed them quite regrettably.
Losing 0-1 to U16 Indonesia, U16 Vietnam finished the 2018 Japan-ASEAN U16 International Football Tournament as runner-up. Although they could not win the championship, through this tournament, our players have accumulated more experience to aim for the main goal of the 2018 AFC U16 Championship./.
