General Do Ba Ty highly appreciated the results of the talks between the two delegations, believing that the contacts between the two countries' military leaders are an important channel to enhance understanding, contributing to promoting bilateral cooperation. The Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army emphasized that the cooperation between the two countries' Ministries of National Defense and the two countries' armies has achieved certain results in recent times, but is still not commensurate with the potential and goodwill of both sides.

General Do Ba Ty suggested that in the coming time, the two sides should continue to effectively implement the Memorandum of Understanding on bilateral defense cooperation (signed in November 2011), promote the effectiveness of the bilateral Working Group on defense cooperation, and promote exchanges towards signing agreements on cooperation in the fields of training, defense industry, and peacekeeping. In order to be consistent with the framework of the strategic partnership between the two countries, the two sides need to pay attention to and promote effective cooperation in constructive fields (maritime security, training, cyber security and information technology, UN peacekeeping), and humanitarian cooperation fields (search and rescue, military medicine, humanitarian assistance/disaster relief, support for Vietnam in overcoming the consequences of post-war bombs and mines in Vietnam, etc.).

Agreeing with the proposals of General Do Ba Ty, General Stuart Peach affirmed that the UK will continue to support Vietnam in areas such as training, coaching, cyber security, etc. These are important areas of cooperation, contributing to bringing the defense relationship between the two countries into reality and effectiveness.

*Earlier, the same morning, Lieutenant General Vo Van Tuan, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army and General Stuart Peach, Deputy Commander of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland's Defense Ministry, held talks.
