Trainees missing in super typhoon in Japan are from Nghe An and Thanh Hoa

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on the evening of September 8 that the Japanese Government is searching for four people missing in Miyazaki province during Typhoon Haishen, including two Vietnamese, but there have been no results yet.

According to the Vietnamese Consulate General in Fukuoka, due to the impact of Typhoon Haishen (typhoon No. 10 in Japan), a landslide occurred in Shiba Commune, Higashi Usuki District, Miyazaki Province on the night of September 6 and early morning of September 7.

The landslide left four people missing, including twointernVietnamese people (from Thanh Hoa and Nghe An) working at Aioigumi Joint Stock Company.

Immediately after receiving the information, the Vietnamese Consulate General in Fukuoka urgently contacted and worked with the Miyazaki Provincial Government, Shiba Commune Government and relevant parties in Japan. The Consulate General also contacted a number of other Vietnamese employees and trainees in Miyazaki to verify the information, find out personal details, and request the relevant authorities.Japanconduct search and rescue for two Vietnamese citizens.

The Japanese government has directed local police and rescue forces to actively search, but there have been no results yet. The Vietnamese Consulate General in Fukuoka will continue to maintain contact with Japanese authorities and the local Vietnamese community to update information and be ready to deploy citizen protection measures.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has sent an official dispatch to the Department of Overseas Labor Management, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, and the Departments of Foreign Affairs of Thanh Hoa and Nghe An provinces requesting that companies ensure full benefits for Vietnamese workers abroad, notify the families of the victims, and provide guidance on necessary related procedures.

In recent days, Typhoon Haishen has made landfall in southern Japan, causing strong winds, widespread heavy rain, and high waves and tides.

The Vietnamese Consulate General in Fukuoka has proactively posted warning information on its official website and websites and social networking sites of Vietnamese organizations, associations and individuals in the region; maintained regular contact with Vietnamese associations and groups as well as companies, unions and schools with a large Vietnamese population to grasp the situation.

We recommend that people take measures to prevent storms, reinforce their houses or evacuate to ensure safety of life and property; be ready to take measures to protect citizens if necessary.

Typhoon Haishen (typhoon No. 10 in Japan) swept across Kyushu Island in the early morning of September 7, with maximum wind speeds near the storm's center reaching 160 km/h, gusts reaching 216 km/h, and pressure at the storm's center reaching 955 hPa.

The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) and local authorities have issued special warnings and evacuation orders for 4.63 million people in 10 provinces in the Kyushu, Chugoku and Shikoku regions, including 1.8 million people in 7 provinces in the Kyushu region alone.

Kyodo reported on September 7 that police were searching for four people missing in the village of Shiba, Miyazaki Prefecture, following Typhoon Haishen. Among them were two Vietnamese male trainees who were reported missing after a landslide hit their company office, where they lived.
