The smart trash cans manufactured by Bin.E can automatically identify and sort waste, according to...MirrorThe sorting process begins as soon as the waste is placed in. Using a combination of sensors, image recognition technology, and artificial intelligence, the Bin.E bin identifies whether the object is mixed, glass, plastic, or paper, then compresses it before transferring it to the appropriate compartment.
The new type of trash can will also collect data and send it to an external data warehouse. The data warehouse aggregates information from multiple devices to improve the image recognition process. When one of the compartments is full, Bin.E will notify the maintenance service and the waste management company so that staff can come to collect it. Because the waste is compressed, the collection process is simple and clean.
The Bin.E waste bin is currently being tested in Poland and could be available in the UK within the next few years. The smart waste bin won't be cheap. The office version costs around $570, and users will have to pay an additional $142 for the accompanying app. The home version is expected to be cheaper.
