The sequelae of stroke, or cerebrovascular accident, can cause patients to become paralyzed on one side of the body or fall into a coma.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, besides acupressure treatment, there are several highly effective herbal remedies for this condition, as follows.

* Stroke affecting the meridians:The patient presents with symptoms such as immobility of the limbs, stiff tongue making speech difficult, wind-evil invading multiple meridians, manifesting as weak and empty pulse, and hemiplegia.

Use a modified version of the Da Qin Jiao Tang formula, consisting of: Qin Jiao 15g, Chuan Xiong 10g, Bai Shao 10g, Dang Gui 15g, Fang Feng 6g, Bai Zhi 5g, Shu Di 6g, Jiang Huo 6g, Du Huo 6g, Shi Gao 10g, Sheng Di 5g, Bai Zhu 6g, Bai Lin 6g, Huang Qin 6g, Bai Shao 6g, Xi Xin 6g.

* Stroke affecting internal organs:Patients may experience symptoms such as superficial coma, tightly closed mouth, flushed face, cold extremities, clenched hands, labored breathing, and hemiplegia; or profound coma, characterized by open mouth, open eyes, cold extremities, extended arms, wheezing, sweating, hemiplegia, and incontinence.

Use the following herbal remedy: Rehmannia glutinosa, Polygala tenuifolia, Cornus officinalis, Dendrobium nobile, Cistanche deserticola, processed Aconitum carmichaelii, Cinnamomum cassia, Schisandra chinensis, Pterocarpus indicus, Ophiopogon japonicus, Acorus calamus, and Polygala tenuifolia, in equal amounts, powdered.

Each time, take 10-20g, add enough water, 5 slices of ginger, 1 apple, and 57 mint leaves, decoct and drink with the medicine. If the patient has high blood pressure causing dizziness, tinnitus, and blurred vision, use the following formula: Gastrodia elata 12g, Uncaria rhynchophylla 16g, Gypsum 25g, Achyranthes bidentata 16g, Gardenia jasminoides, Scutellaria baicalensis, Eucommia ulmoides, Leonurus artemisia, Loranthus parasiticus, Polygonum multiflorum, and Poria cocos, 12g each. Drink one dose per day.

Disease prevention:For individuals with a history of stroke symptoms such as severe headache, lightheadedness, dizziness, numbness in the limbs, frequent urination, or sudden stiffness of the tongue, the following herbal remedy should be taken regularly: Mulberry leaves, chrysanthemum flowers, Prunella vulgaris, Gastrodia elata, Uncaria rhynchophylla, and Cassia seed. The dosage is 8-12g to prevent severe stroke.
