The defender named in the 2016 FIFA Team of the Year will be given special treatment if he leaves Juventus to play in the Chinese Super League.

“Dani Alves has received a contract offer worth $200,000 a week from Shanghai SIPG,” Sky Sports reported.

The 33-year-old Brazilian defender joined Juventus on a free transfer in the summer of 2016, after eight successful years at Barcelona. His excellent performances last season saw him named in the 2016 FIFA FIFPro World XI.

If Alves agrees to move to Shanghai SIPG, he will play alongside other famous compatriots Hulk and Oscar.

Midfielder Oscar also just arrived in Shanghai earlier this January on a $626,000-a-week contract, after leaving Chelsea.

But he is still not the highest paid player in the Chinese Super League. Shanghai Shenhua is said to be paying striker Carlos Tevez a weekly salary of $764,000, the highest in world football today.

On January 19, the Chinese Football Association (CFA) announced a number of new regulations to limit the trend of unusual spending by wealthy clubs, notably the regulation that each team is only allowed to use a maximum of three foreign players on the field during each match from the 2017 season.
